Przedmiotem artykułu jest przestrzenne zróżnicowanie struktury wg wieku i płci ludności wiejskiej w 1991 roku, w układzie wojewódzkim, oraz próba wyodrębnienia grup województw o podobnej strukturze wieku.

The subject of the paper is the spatial differentation of the structure of the population of Poland according to age nad sex. The chosen synthetic indices of these structures are compared with analogous for the urban population. The main part of the paper constitutes an attempt to seperate groups of voivodships of a similar structure of the country population in 1991. In view of this there is used a method of elimination of vectors (proposed by S. Chomątowski and A. Sokołowski, "Przegląd Statystyczny" 1978 , nr 2). The basis for grouping is the matrix of the structure indices for 5-yaer age groups. Taking the mean value of the differentiation indices as a criterion of similarity, one gets 7 groups of voivodships of a similar age structure of the population. The first (consisting of 18 elements) gathers voivodships of the most typical structures, the last two (of one element each) are formed by voivodships of the most non-typical structure (Białystok and Nowy Sącz).
