Celem pracy było zbadanie wpływu stężenia początkowego substancji powierzchniowo aktywnej i koncentracji mikroorganizmów na biodegradację alkilobenzenosulfonianu sodu liniowego i rozgałęzionego w wodzie rzeki Wisły.

The studies were concerned with the degree of biodegradation of linear and branched sodium alkylobenzosulphonates, depending on the initial concentration of the surfactant and the concentration of microorganisms in the river water. For that purpose the Vistula water test was applied. Determination of the degree of the surfactant decay in the tested samples was made by means of the surfactant method. It was stated that the adaptation period increases greatly with a decrease in the degradation rate, in accordance with the increase in the initial substance concentration. The effect of the concentration of microorganisms in analogous, but of the opposite sing, to that of the, surfactant concentration. Branched sodium alkylobenzosulphonate, as compared with the linear compound, undergoes adaptation slowlier and its biodegradation period is longer for the same initial concentrations and with the same concentration of microorganisms.
