Przedstawiono strategiczny wymiar zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi i jego istotę, zależność między strategią organizacji a strategią w sferze zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi, jej obszary i strategie personalne w polskich firmach.

The article deals with the strategic aspect of the human resources management. The author begins with the discussion of changes taking place in the environment of the contemporary organization and next indicates the premises justifying the necessity of a strategic approach to the prformance of the personnel function in a company. Further on in the article the author characterizes the process of strategic human resources management demonstrating the presence of interrelations between the strategy adopted by a business and personnel strategy. As the main areas of strategic human resources management the author identifies: providing an organization with human resources adequate to its mission and strategy and creating conditions for an active involvement of the entire staff in its life. In the concluding part the author presents the approach to human resources management adopted by Polish companies pointing out that activities on the operational level are predominant and including the need of creating in them personnel strategies.(original abstract)
