Mechanization of loading work is considered in the article from the aspect of barriers reducing economic effectiveness. The author has discussed the possibilities of applying economic calculation to solving the problems of transportation and cargo handling and indicated the possible development directions in formulating the programme of mechanizing the loading work.(original abstract)
