Przedstawiono w skrócie problematykę zanieczyszczenia środowiska przez transport (samochodowy i morski).

Among the factors contributing to the degradation of the natural environment, transport with its dynamic development characteristic for contemporary civilization, occupies a prominent place. The threats posed by transport include practically all components of the environment, particularly atmospheric air, water, soil and vegetation. Especially dangerous is transport using internal combustion engines which emit to the atmosphere large volumes of toxic substances containing compounds of sulphur, lead and other heavy metals. A serious hazard to the marine environment is the transport of oil, which in the case of collisions often leads to local ecological disasters. Another problem which remains to be solved is that of noise made by transport, increasingly larger area of land taken up by new transport routes and junctions as well as waste economy. In order to improve the situation, it is necessary to focus on the introduction of pro-ecological fuels (unleaded petrol), alternative fuels and sources of energy (bio-gas, solar energy) and also on a wider application of new pro-ecological technical solutions (catalysts), recycling of tyres and other waste parts of vehicles.(original abstract)
