Commercial papers are unsecured debentures possessing the features of drafts. At present they constitute a basic instrument of the money market. Up to the 80s they were in use only in the U.S.A., Canada and Australia. Since then there has been noted a continuous expansion of the market of commercial papers as a segment of the money market, and a steady increase of their role as an instrument of obtaining short-term capital. In the present article the author describes the particular types of commercial papers, aims and costs of issue, placing the issue in the market, establishing the sell price and quotation, secondary market of those instruments and its makers.(original abstract)
