The paper assesses the development of computer-aided software engineering (CASE), with especial reference to recent industry comment on experience and on current and probable future trends. The claimed advantages and the need for some caution in adopting CASE are explored. It concludes that not only is CASE a very influential part of the current software scene - certainly in the UK - but that it is probably set to continue to be so for some time to come. Artykuł omawia rozwój komputerowo wspartego przygotowania software'u (computer - aided software engmeering CASE) ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem obecnych przemysłowych doświadczeń oraz przyszli trendów. Autor powołując się na zalety, zwraca też uwagę na zachowanie ostrożności w adaptowaniu CASE. W konkluzji podkreślano, że CASE jest ważnym elementem całokształtu problemów software'owych - zwłaszcza w Zjednoczonym Królestwie - co daje podstawę sądzić, że CASE utrzyma swoją pozycję w przyszłości.
