Proces rekrutacji pracowników obejmuje ich werbowanie, dobór i adaptację do pracy. Przedstawiono źródła i sposoby rekrutacji pracowników, stosowane techniki ich doboru, zwracając uwagę na ich przydatność i koszt.

The paper presents the results of the research into procedures and techniques used in the course of recruitment and selection of personnel as they are applied in ongoing practice of human resource management. The research was done in four major companies situated in Kraków and operating in different sectors of the economy such as steel making sector, the energy sector, the construction and transportation sectors, companies moreover characterized by diverse forms of ownerschip (two state-owned and two privatized ones). The author describes in the paper sources from which new personnel was recruited. These included internal and external labour market, i.e. the company's own personnel and local and non-local respectively. She also presents the most common methods of its recruitment such as internal and press advertisements for openings, recruitment in schools, personnel pools or state-owned or even private recruitment agencies. In the course of recruitment the companies in question applied traditional and at the same time cheaper techniques such as analysis of job applications, interviews and psychological test. The only novel technique to be used was candidate selection for executive posts through contest of applications. In the final part of the paper the author emphasizes that system transformation sustained by the Polish economy and especially the new developments in the labour market, for example the emergence of unemployment, have played an important part in personnel recruitment and selection procedures.
