The law on real agricultural estates of the State Treasury, which came into force on January 1, 1992, created legal foundations of ownership transformation in the Polish agriculture, as well as established the Agricultural Property Agency of the State Treasury. The main aim of the Agency is to take over this property and, subsequently, to transmit it to new users. The new law creates numereous possibilities of transfering the State Treasury's ownership to its purchasers and users. A small interest in buying this property, especially within regions characterized by a great supply of real estates, causes a necessity to adopt non-commercial forms of turning over them to future users. A great spatial diversification of the demand on and of supply of farming land, and of other elements of the State Treasury's property, makes inevitable the adaptation of privatization methods to local conditions.
