Artykuł powstał w oparciu o projekt badawczy dotyczący Polski, jako elementu transeuropejskiej sieci przewozów multimodalnych. Przedstawiono zagadnienia lokalizacji węzłów-terminali transportu multimodalnego oraz wymogów ilościowo-jakościowych taboru kolejowego i samochodowego.
Nowadays, the multimodal transport model is rarely used in Poland, what is in contrast to situation in European Union, where the various models of combined transport are commonly applied. This article presents chosen aspects concerning network of modern transport system in Poland. The main problems that appear to be solved, are the localisation of nodes- terminals, and requirements concerning cars, roads and railway systems. There is also a possibility of use the inland and sea transport, which may be combined with other systems. In article, there are pointed several nodes- terminals in Poland, which can be used for multimodal transport, with characteristic of estimated size of cargo quantities, and number of cars and trains needed to apply it effectively. The conclusion is that multimodal transport systems are indeed better than traditional ways (as an example may serve Switzerland and Austria), but in Poland they require a long process of adjustment, both form technical, and legally- organisational side.
