Załamanie popytu na pracę w początkowym okresie przemian systemowych w Polsce było bezpośrednią przyczyną bezrobocia. Autorka przedstawiła kształtowanie się bezrobocia w Polsce w tym okresie i na tym tle wielkość i dynamikę bezrobocia wśród młodzieży - w szczególności ze średnim wykształceniem- jego skutki oraz metody zwalczania.

In the article the author tackles the problem of youth unemployment in Poland against the background of the phenomenon of unemployment in general. In the first part, the author presents the state and dynamics of unemplyment in Poland in the period of the transformation of the economic system in our country (from 1990 to 1996), and carries out the classification of unemployment according to age, sex and education. In the same part, the author shows the territorial distribution of unemployment in Poland. Further on in the article, the author's attention is devoted entirely to the issue of inemployment among young people in our country. First, the author presents the shaping of the relevant data in the period under investigation, and, next, an attempt is made at finding the cuses of this phenomenon and its consequences. In the final part, author presents maesures taken so far to reduce the youth unemployment in Poland and tries to evaluate their effectiveness. (original abstract)
