Multinational Strategic Alliances as the Contemporary Development Trend of Telecommunication Monopoly

Abstrakty
Przedmiotem artykułu jest problematyka zmian strategicznych w międzynarodowym sektorze usług telekomunikacyjnych, które wynikają z postępującej liberalizacji i globalizacji tego sektora oraz dynamicznego rozwoju technologicznego łączności. W konkluzji stwierdzono, że alianse strategiczne pomiędzy krajowymi i zagranicznymi operatorami stają się jedyną ścieżką rozwoju sektora telekomunikacyjnego.
For the greater part of the century, telecommunications operators have behaved as monopolists in their home territories. After the years of treating telecommunication companies as the national monopoly, today we can observe definitely different direction in public policy toward the sector. Year 1999 is becoming the symbolic date of liberalisation in Europe's telecommunication. In addition to this, there are enormous technological changes in telecommunication services. Generally speaking the world at the start to XXI century face a spectacular globalisation of one of the most important infrastructure sectors. The article shows main changes in international telecommunication market with indication of role of strategic alliances between national telecommunication companies. In the first part (chapter) author gives full characteristics of liberalisation processes in the world's telecommunication sector. The second part is devoted to describing the nature of alliances on the market. At the end, the author shows the main reasons and results of the biggest acquisition and other types of alliances between world telecommunications operators. (original abstract)
