Estimation of Average Waiting Time in High-speed Local Networks with Tree Topology

We describe the analysis of an average waiting time in high-speed local networks with a tree topology, using for example 100VG AnyLan network. A network concentrator is described. In such a multichannel system of mass service with n entrances, n1 of them accept priority flows, and n2 of them accept nonpriority flows. We also consider the dependence of an average waiting time changing in a system with relative priorities in case of various ratio intensity of flows. Also it is stated that the minimum value of an average waiting time is reached at the maximum priority of the applications at the expense of the waiting time increase of less priority applications. Omówiono analizę przeciętnego czasu oczekiwania w lokalnych sieciach o dużej szybkości, o topologii drzewiastej, używając jako przykładu sieci 100VG AnyLan. Przeanalizowano również zależność przeciętnej zmiany czasu oczekiwania, w systemach o względnych priorytetach w przypadku różnych współczynników intensywności przepływów.
