Abstrakty
Podstawową funkcją ratingu ubezpieczeniowego jest informowanie o sytuacji zakładu ubezpieczeń lub o jakości oferowanych przez niego usług. Artykuł ma na celu usystematyzowanie najważniejszych pojęć związanych z ratingiem ubezpieczeniowym. Autor przedstawił kategorie ogólne takie jak: definicja ratingu, ratingu ubezpieczeniowego, rodzaje oceny, skala ratingowa, "watch list", raport ratingowy, które są podstawowe dla zrozumienia istoty i zasad funkcjonowania tego rodzaju ocen.
The article makes an attempt to systematise basic terms related to insurance rating. There are different approaches to the category of rating in literature. The first part presents the main approaches to the very essence of rating - as a process of evaluation or as a result of this process. The next part of the paper presents a definition of insurance rating which is an extension of the general definition through determination of subjects and the range of evaluation. Then the author presents the most significant criteria according to which one can systematise the types of insurance ratings. The last part presents these elements of the rating system which are significant in understanding the principles of awarding and presentation of the results of analyses carried out by rating agencies - rating scale, rating report and watch list.
