Foreign Direct Investments in Poland - Behaviour of Foreign Investors and Behaviour of Home Enterprises

Abstrakty
W artykule przedstawiono wybrane aspekty makroekonomiczne napływu zagranicznych inwestycji bezpośrednich do Polski oraz scharakteryzowano strategie inwestorów zagranicznych na rynku polskim. Następnie dokonano typologii strategii walki konkurencyjnej firm polskich z przedsiębiorstwami zagranicznymi. Wyróżniono następujące strategie: "narodowy lider", agresywna obrona, kooperacja, lobbing i budowanie nierynkowych barier wejścia. Na koniec omówiono zalecenia dla polskiej polityki gospodarczej dotyczące konkurencji.
Foreign direct investments in Poland are the main symptom of Poland's participation in globalisation processes, as most of those investments are made by the firms which carry out global strategies. The article presents considerations of two kinds. The first one is of macroeconomic character. It characterises some selected aspects of the inflow of foreign direct investments to Poland, namely: - a synthetic presentation of the evolution of legal-institutional conditions for the inflow of foreign capital to Poland, - volume and structure of foreign direct investment, - significance and effects of foreign direct investments. The second kind of considerations presents the following problems: - foreign investors' strategies on the Polish market, - types of strategies of competition between the Polish firms and the foreign enterprises, - effects of competitive struggle, - guidelines for the Polish economic policy.
