Price Tendencies on the World Fish Market and their Factors

Abstrakty
Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza tendencji i czynników ruchu cen w światowym handlu rybami i produktami rybnymi w latach 80-tych i 90-tych. Okres ten charakteryzuje dynamiczny wzrost popytu na ryby i ich produkty oraz cen tych artykułów. Istotne czynniki kształtowania się popytu i cen to zmiany w strukturze popytu na artykuły żywnościowe oraz regulacje międzynarodowego prawa morza.
The article presents an analysis of main tendencies and factors in prices of the world seafood market in 1980s and 1990s. The result of analysis shows that the seafood prices have increased distinctively over the last twenty years. This phenomenon deserves a special attention when considering the global decreasing tendencies in prices of raw products and food in the international trade. The main factor which caused the relative and inconsiderate increase of prices on the international fish product market was a world need for the seafood during a growing limitation in possibilities to enlarge the internal supply. The synthetic consequence of the increasing demand for fish and changes in the International Law of the Sea was an increase of the global interest in fish products. Therefore in 1980s and 1990 the fish products prices were growing dynamically comparing to prices of other food and raw products. (original abstract)
