Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie, jak na przełomie wieków ewoluował zakres teorii rachunkowości. Podkreślono, że w wyniku tych przemian powstał system rachunkowości uznany pod koniec XX wieku za jedno z najlepiej funkcjonujących źródeł informacji ekonomicznej.

Observing how the theory of Accountancy evaluated throughout the centuries one can easily notice that it's practical usage has become significantly important. At the very beginning the role of accountancy was limited to the recording economical events only. By the end of XXth century accountancy has become the main source of information used in decision process. Accountancy is a branch of science that combines the advantage of theory as well as of the practice.(original abstract)
