Abstrakty

Turystyka wywiera coraz większy wpływ na rozwój gospodarczy w kraju i powinna być traktowana jako ważny sektor gospodarki narodowej. W artykule omówiono rozwój turystyki krajowej i zagranicznej w latach 1989-1997 (wyjazdy Polaków za granicę i przyjazdy cudzoziemców do Polski), kładąc nacisk na strategię rozwoju turystyki. Przedstawiono także strukturę bazy noclegowej.

The year 1989 can be seen as a breakthrough in the history of post-war Poland, for it was then that the process of structural changes generated by the market commenced. The twin processes of democratisation and self-government currently under way in Poland have had a stimulating effect on tourism and have tightened its links with the local and regional economy. The aim of this article is to identify the main changes taking place in tourism during the transformation period. The analysis covers the changes in the volume of domestic tourism during 1989-97, as well as the changes in foreign tourism into and out of Poland. The policy assumptions for the development of the tourist economy in Poland include the principle of no restrictions on domestic and foreign tourism. The increase in the number of foreign visitors to Poland and changes in domestic demand are causing changes in the supply of tourist services. (original abstract)
