Abstrakty
W artykule podjęto próbŠ określenia, czym w istocie są instytucje kredytowe i finansowe, na czym polegają zasadnicze różnice pomiędzy nimi i dlaczego rozgraniczenie tych dwóch typów instytucji jest konieczne. Autorka przedstawiła tradycyjną klasyfikację podmiotów sektora bankowego, pojęcie instytucji kredytowej i finasnowej i jego kształtowanie się (również w dyrektywach UE).
The aim of the article is to presents a variety of institutions in contemporary banking systems in order to characterise against their background contemporary credit institutions. The first part presents the essence of the evolution of the banking systems. Further on the author indicates the reasons for the development of two types institutions in the banking systems: credit institutions and financial institutions. The most important difference between these two types of institutions is their role in monetary processes. Credit institution create money, whereas financial institutions are only intermediaries in its exchange. Understanding of the diferrences in the character of these two types of institutions was reflected in the legal regulations of the EU countries where credit institutions are clearly separated from the financial ones and where the ways of their regulation and control are completely different.
