Main Assumptions of the Danish System of Social Security on the Example of the Social Policy in Storstrom Region

Autor omówił nadrzędne cele i podstawowe zadania polityki socjalnej regiomu Storstrom, charakteryzując w ten sposób funkcjnowanie systemu pomocy społecznej w Danii.
The article presents aims and principles of the social policy in Storstrom region, the description of activities planned for the years 1998-2001 for the phisically handicapped, mentally handicapped and mentally ill people as well as for the homeless and alcohol and drug addicts. The author touches on the main aspects of work in "the complexes of houses and flats" - social assistance, instytutions, small housing communities. Moreover, the paper describes general principles of the financing of people in need by the instytutions of social assistance and explains the differences between the rules of supporting people who can live an independent life in their local environment and those who require day nad night care. The final part of the article is reflection on how the people benefited from abandoning the idea of large instytutions for the sake of small housing communities and introdusing similar solutions in our country.
