It is not surprising that economic forecasting is one of the most important task of economists. If decision makers know that a downturn is ahead, they can adapt their actions to economic conditions, and that's the reason why analysis of business cycles are so important. In this essay authors looked at a wide variety of data on things like wages, deposits, unemployment, consumer price index, incomes, transshipments and other, for the purpose of identifying in which phase of the business cycle (recession or expansion) is the economy of province of Szczecin. Moreover authors tried to build an "index of leading indicators" in order to produce forecasts. (original abstract)
