Kredyty eksportowe występują w różnych postaciach i udzielane są przez wiele podmiotów gospodarczych. W artykule autorka charakteryzuje kredyty kupieckie, bankowe i kredytowanie transakcji eksportowych przy udziale państwa.

Credit is an inseparable feature of economy based on market principles. Contemporary elements of crediting accompany almost all export transaction. Even in case of transactions of prompt-cash payment, when a payment is done against documents we witness a short crediting of one party by the other party or by a bank taking part in settling the accounts. Crediting of export goes beyond the frames of financing only the process of export sale (post-shipment financing), but includes also a phase of creating the product intended for abroad (pre-shipment financing). Export credits appear in different forms and are granted by many economic entities. Historically, the oldest form of export credits is delaying by exporters payment terms for delivered goods, in other words commercial credits. Commercial banks that allow mainly short and medium-term credit for foreign importers and refinance costs which exporters bear 9 by allowing credit to a deliverer). Governments of many countries engage in crediting of export transactions, especially medium and long-term. By means of different types of State institutions (or acting at the expense of the State) they allow either official export credits for the benefit of importers (their banks or governments), or take part in taking over a risk (especially non-trade risk) incurred by private financial institutions engaged in export crediting. The most common financial instruments employed in this field are: insuring at the expense of State export fees against non-trade risk and medium and long-term trade risk, granting government guarantees for the benefit of banks financing export transactions, financing bank or commercial credits and endowing interest rates ballasting export credits.
