Celem opracowania było ukazanie roli małych miast jako aktywnych ośrodków własnych mikroregionów. Przedmiotem szczególnych zainteresowań były małe miasta trzech województw: krakowskiego, nowosądeckiego i tarnowskiego, tworzących w relacjach nadrzędnych umowny Region Krakowski.
The ojective of this work was to show the role of small towns as active centres of macroregions. The analysis of balance of opening local job markets (together with the problem of unemployment) was very helpful in identifying spatial structures.Basic forms of stimulation to small town basis, noticeable in growing significance of individual economic activity of town inhabitants were also presented. Connections between small towns with basis was shown by analysing their socio-educational functions, emphasising necessity to integrate directions of profesional training considering requirements and needs of local markets. Analysed kinds of spatial connections based on the results of local research, confirmed the thesis of activating, but changeable in time, role of small towns in the process of socio-economic changes and territorial integration of Kraków region.
