Abstrakty
Recently, fiber optic channels for data transmitting have found wide applications in high-speed networks. It has been recognized that these channels are unidirectional thus can be used in ring networks with token access methods. This paper deals with the derivation of expressions for the average transfer delay suffered by packets on token-passing networks. The expressions have been obtained for multiple-token, single-token, and single packet operations, which constituted the basis for most of the analysis, carried out in this paper. (JW)
