Autor przedstawił podstawowe wymagania stawiane algorytmom kompresji pierwszej i drugiej generacji. Obejmuje ono porównanie kompresji danych wideo, opartej na dyskretnej transformacie kosinusowej i dyskretnej transformacie falkowej. W artykule opisano ponadto falkę Haara i algorytm Mallata.
The present paper deals with the main requirements that compressing algorithms of the first and second generations should satisfy. It presents a comparison between compressing video data based on the discrete DCT transform and the discrete wavelet transform. This paper reveals the Haar wavelet and the Mallat algorithm. It also showa samples how the wavelet transform can be applied to some taska. (original abstract)
