Abstrakty

W artykule opisano konflikt handlowy pomiędzy Stanami Zjednoczonymi a Unią Europejską, dotyczący zdobywania nowych rynków. Przedmiotem większości nieporozumień było rolnictwo, a najnowsze konflikty pomiędzy UE a USA dotyczą: handlu produktami zmodyfikowanymi genetycznie, dopłat do subsydiów w przemyśle lotniczym oraz audio-wizualnym oraz tzw. "wojny bazarowej".

The heightened struggle to win new markets has led to increasing tensions and trade conflicts between the USA and the European Union. A review of the most important conflicts in these bilateral relations shows that in most cases the disputes were initiated by the USA, which more often than the European Union was the accusing party in GATT. The growth in the number of disputes has been accompanied by a decline in US hegemony and an increase in economic interdependencies between the two partners. The subject of most of the disputes was agriculture. Their underlying cause was the EU's common trade policy, which, thanks to extensive state interventionism, gave the European Union a higher share in world agricultural markets in the first half of the 1980s. Fears that this policy would hurt its own agricultural producers made the USA a much more active initiator of trade disputes in own agricultural producers made the USA a much more active initiator of trade disputes in the area of agriculture. Naw types of conflicts in relations between the USA and European Union include: conflicts over trade in genetically modified products, conflicts over subsidies in the aviation and audio-visual industries, and the so-called banana war.
