Statystyka małych obszarów (SMO) jest dziedziną, próbującą sprostać potrzebom pojawiającym się obecnie na polskim rynku. Autorka przedstawia możliwości zastosowania SMO w: badaniach stanu zdrowia, badaniach demograficznych i statystyki ludności, badaniach rynku pracy i bezrobocia, badaniach rynkowych i rolnictwie.

Small area statistics (SAS) is a science which tries to meet the needs appearing on our market today.It a low level of aggregation. The possibilities of using SAS techniques are very wide. This is proved by numerous examples of studies conducted in the countries of North America and Western Europe. The SAS can be applied in such fields as: health examination, demographic research and population statistics, labour market und unemployment, market research, agriculture. Studies are based on different techniques of estimation. The technique of estimation is always adjusted to the existing sources of data to the type of a small area or domain which makes the SAS useful in many fields. This fact is worth mentioning as there is a growing demand in Poland for information at the low level of aggregation. (original abstract)
