Abstrakty

Autorka prezentuje przegląd definicji ubóstwa absolutnego i względnego gdzie jako kryterium przyjmowane są warunki materialne niezbędne do zaspokojenia potrzeb człowieka. W Polsce i na świecie stosuje się równolegle wiele miar ubóstwa m.in.: próg ubóstwa, relatywna granica ubóstwa, minimum socjalne (koszyk dóbr), minimum egzystencji (granica ubóstwa skrajnego) i relatywna granica ubóstwa. Artykuł poświęcono metodologii pomiaru ubóstwa (indeksy ubóstwa) na podstawie danych o budżetach gospodarstw domowych.

Poverty can perceived by many different means. However, in the centre of the discussion about it there is a problem concering a treatment of the poverty as an absolute or relative occurence. At the same time abroad as well as in Poland, are parallely many measures of the poverty have been used. The main measures which have been used in Poland: social minimum, minimum of the existence, the relative poverty line. The indicators of the poverty have been used, too. Nowdays, a great importance is attached to the subjective poverty lines. They use the opinions obtained by an inquiry. Methods of the measurement of the poverty are an object of the keen discussion and all the time the trials of their improvement are undertaken. (original abstract)
