W artykule przedstawiono znane i najczęściej stosowane metody badawcze procesu biodegradacji: testy laboratoryjne, testy symulacyjne, testy w środowisku naturalnym oraz metody pomiaru procesu biodegradacji.

This article looks at the most frequently applied methods of researching and describing biodegradation processes. The author points to the universality of the methods concerned and the possibility of researching the microbiological decomposition of materials in various environments. Particular emphasis is placed on simulation methods, which combine the features both of laboratory research - ensuring recurrence of results - and the features of a natural environment for the decomposition of materials. The author also stresses the need to select appriopriate methods for describing the process of biodegradation, as only these enable the research results to be interpreted correctly.
