Abstrakty

Treść artykułu poświęcona została problematyce roli i znaczeniu turystyki i wypoczynku w europejskiej współpracy transgranicznej. Autor rozpoczął od charakterystyki typów pogranicza, a dalej skupił się na przedstawieniu kluczowych kwestii i problemów dotyczących turystyki w kontekście współpracy transgranicznej. W artykule jest ponadto mowa m.in. o programach UE promujących rozwój turystyki transgranicznej i jej infrastruktury na obszarze państw członkowskich (INTERREG) oraz w krajach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej (PHARE-CREDO). Artykuł kończą propozycje autora na temat roli samorządu terytorialnego w odniesieniu do turystyki krajowej i transgranicznej.

European experts and activists of the Association of European Transborder Regions specifity some key issues of transborder cooperation: Tourism is a catalyst of structural adjustment and border regions development, promoting progress in other sctors, including employment (new qualifications, alternative employment), infrastructure and facilities (roads, transport, recreation premise) as well as investments and new enterprises location; Tourism development strategies must based on the idea of permanent developmant and the consciousness of potential threats posed by tourism (impact on environmet, society, periodical employment); Progress of tourism in transborder regions require strategic cooperation as well topical projects; In order to compete in international market, transborder regions should cooperate in broadening their offer, marketing, promotion and tourist facilities management services improvement; Cooperation in tourism influences other areas of transborder collaboration, such as "small" infrastructure, education training and culturaln activitiess. The above l;isted issues are discussed in the article. (original abstract)
