W artykule przeanalizowano problem rozwoju sektora małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw, i ich roli w ograniczeniu bezrobocia w Polsce. Podkreślono, że w celu przeciwdziałania bezrobociu, państwo i społeczeństwo musi w sposób kompleksowy i zorganizowany wspierać przedsiębiorczość oraz małe i średnie firmy

The paper consists of the characteristics and background to transformations in the small- and medium-size business sector over the last few years in Poland. The author sees a link between developments in the small- and medium-size business sector and characteristic changes of post-industrial periods. The sectored development is an opportunity to limit unemployment. Another opportunity to assist the development of small- and medium-size companies is offered by the government's Entrepreneurship First program. One major weakness of Poland's small- and medium-size business sector is its low rate of innovation. Its improvement demands a powerful national involvement. This being the more important as the work force engaged in this sector need protection. However, this demands the creation of macro- and micro-economic climate favourable to the growth and development of the sector. (original abstract)
