W pracy podjęto próbę przedstawienia przesłanek, możliwości oraz perspektyw stosowania nowoczesnych technologii, szczególnie Internetu w działalności ubezpieczeniowej zarówno w Polsce jak i zagranicą.
Latest technologies, the internet being not an exception, are increasingly being applied in various sectors of man's social and economic life. The internet is increasingly being applied in insurance activities due to the benefits that come with it. Many experts classify financial services including the internet into sectors most suitable for such instruments of communication and distribution. Despite this, the application of new technologies, including Poland, is yet confronted with a lot of barriers which do not permit the growth of companies or changes in their management patterns. Traditional ways of doing business that rely on traditional instruments and methods of distribution and communication still dominates the insurance sector. The paper is an attempt to pin-point the prerequisites, state, possibilities as well as perspectives for applying modern technologies, especially the internet, in insurance activities both in Poland and the world over.
