W pracy przedstawiono znaczenie czynnika kulturowego w kształtowaniu konsumpcji polskich gospodarstw domowych. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 7 krajach Europy Centralnej: Czechach, Polsce, Słowacji, Węgrzech, Litwie i Estonii w latach 90.

The paper understudies economic changes on macro-economic scale in seven central European countries i.e., The Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in the 1990s. The structure of as well as horizontal changes in the gross domestic product, GDP, of the aforementioned countries was analyzed. Their GDPs were analyzed in two categories: - from the expenditure point of view i.e., as total sum of expenditure on consumption by individuals, governmental expenditures, gross internal investments as well as net exports, - from the manufacturing point of view i.e., as total sum of all values added during production in each sector. The research also covered the level of individual consumptions per capita being one of the elements of economic growth. The above considerations were aimed at identifying similarities and differences in undergoing transformation processes in each of the countries studied. The results obtained lead to a conclusion, that the trends characteristic of the economic changes in the countries considered were similar and although they differed in their change dynamics, starting speed as well as their internal and external pre-requisitions they were able to bring their economic structures to similar levels at the end.
