In the paper, the results of the survey of the situation of Polish enterprises by size (as measured by employment level) and ownership sector (public vs. private) after the reform of 1990 are presented. For the enterprises already existing before 1990, the sub-groups of growing and declining firms are distinguished and analyzed. For the enterprises that were established after 1990 their 'birth rates' and 'survival rates' by sectors are estimated. The methods applied in this study have not been used in Poland before.

W artykule prezentowane są rezultaty badań nad sytuacją polskich przedsiębiorstw wg ich wielkości (mierzonej poziomem zatrudnienia) oraz wg ich własności (publiczne vs. prywatne) po reformie z 1990 roku. Dla przedsiębiorstw, które istniały już przed rokiem 1990 analizowana jest podgrupa firm rozwijających się oraz firm upadających. Dla przedsiębiorstw które powstały po 1990 roku szacuje się ich stopę "narodzin" oraz stopę "przeżycia" wg sektorów. Metody zastosowane w opracowaniu nie były dotąd używane w tego typu badaniach w Polsce.
