Do stworzenia parku naukowego są potrzebne m.in: wysoki poziom technologiczny placówek naukowych, zaangażowanie ze strony podmiotów publicznych i prywatnych, odpowiednie formy finansowania wysokich technologii. Autor przedstawia genezę parków naukowych. Omawia rozwój koncepcji parków naukowych w Europie i na Dalekim Wschodzie.

Science parks have been founded in highly industrialised countries for 40 years. However, they have various shape and form in different countries. The first science parks were set up in the USA as a result of academic development policy. Since in Japan automation of manufacturing was an industrial target, science parks were expected to accelerate this process. In Great Britain limited financial means induced foundation of science parks by universities, while in France decentralisation of the industry surrounding Paris seemed to be the main impulse in this process.(original abstract)
