Abstrakty

W artykule przedstawiono wnioski z badań nad zbieżnością wzrostu gospodarczego województw w Polsce w latach 1995-2000. Na początku autor omówił teoretyczne podstawy występowania zjawiska zbieżności. Dalsza części pracy zawiera wyniki badań, które mają określić jaki procent odległości od stanu równowagi długookresowej gospodarka przebędzie w ciągu jednego okresu oraz czy zróżnicowanie dochodów pomiędzy województwami malało w czasie (za miarę zróżnicowania dochodów przyjęto wartość odchylenia standardowego realnego PKB na 1 mieszkańca).

Neoclassical economic growth models (the Solow-Ramsey model) confirm the presence of beta type conditional convergence effect. The beta type convergence is the case when a less developed economy (with a lower level of GDP per capita) develops faster than a more advanced economy (with a higher level of GDP per capita). Such a convergence can also be analysed in categories of a diminishing variation in incomes between the economies over a certain period, measured by e.g. GDP standard deviation. Then a sigma type convergence is the case. This article presents the results of analyses conducted to find out whether voivodships in Poland showed convergence (in absolute terms) in the years 1995 - 2000. The Author's empirical analysis for Poland did not confirm any presence of either beta type or sigma type convergence. This means that in the second half of the 1990s more advanced voivodships were developing faster than the less developed ones, and the regional variation of incomes in Poland was increasing over that period.
