Standard methods of the time series identification are not able to dept between chaotic and random behavior. Due to this reason, there are advanced research on methods which would be able to identify chaotic dynamics. The most important are correlation dimension and Lyapunov exponent. Containing at least one positive Lyapunov exponent is a crucial condition of chaotic systems, and means that accuracy of the forecast diminishes exponentially. Presented paper describes an application of a Lyapunov exponent to Polish stock market data. The results suggest that analyzed processes are rather not generated by chaotic systems.
