The contemporary development megatrends seem to lead to the end of the Western civilization in its current form. A significant aspect of this process constitutes the crisis of the consciousness connected with the idea of homo oeconomicus. As a result the Western society seems to find itself at the cross -roads between the consumer pattern of development and an alternative one. What does the rational economic activity mean in such a perspective? The trial of answer leads to the search of new patterns of thinking, acting and social order. (original abstract)
