Abstrakty

Artykuł prezentuje główne uregulowania prawne banków centralnych Stanów Zjednoczonych, Niemiec, Japonii, Polski, Argentyny, Rosji i Słowacji, zwracając szczególną uwagę na stopień ich niezależności tych banków od rządu. Wyniki przeprowadzonej analizy stanowią potwierdzenie istnienia długookresowego związku pomiędzy stopniem niezależności banku centralnego a osiąganymi wynikami gospodarczymi.

The article presents main legal features of central banks of United States, Germany, Japan, Poland, Argentina, Russia and Slovakia, paying attention on their degree of independence from government. Monetary policy strategies and pivotal objectives of these banks are also described and the empirical analysis of the relationship between degree of central bank independence and long-run level of inflation was carried out. The results indicate that ensuring autonomy of monetary authorities is necessary for maintaining price stability in long term. (original abstract)
