Abstrakty

Przedstawiono najważniejsze pozycje w wydatkach konsumpcyjnych krajów UE oraz Polski oraz wynikające z nich różnice w wydatkach państw Unii na zdrowie i edukację spowodowane głównie stosowanym modelem polityki społecznej. W konkluzji autor stwierdza, iż rozwój gospodarczy powoduje wzrost wydatków związanych z komunikacją, co jest efektem promowania gospodarki opartej na wiedzy.

The approaching process of Poland's accession to the EU structures leads to an increase in the interest in the way the EU member states society function. The available statistic data, outlining principal features such as: GDP, unemployment rate, investment, industrial output, import & export and consumption creates a picture delineating the differences in social and political policies, economy structures, business environment and the structure of the EU residents' consumption as well as living standards. The consumption analysis represents an important source of information on the direction of changes within the household expenditure, which are the derivative of the set of factors both measurable, such as changes in the available income or changes in the level of consumer goods prices and immeasurable ones (changes within the consumer needs preferences, changes in value systems and so on). The macroeconomic policy applied in the EU uses various instruments aiming at equalising and then raising the living standards of all member states' citizens. The stress is put on erasing the differences in terms of regions (especially with regards to the backward regions such as Epirus in Greece). Despite the actions mentioned above, the expenditure level and structure show significant differences depending on a country. This paper attempts to present main differences and similarities in the structure of household expenditure in Poland and the European Union in this historic for the Polish society moment - on the eve of the accession referendum.
