Abstrakty

W pierwszej części artykułu przeanalizowano dane dotyczące liczebności, zatrudnienia i obrotów małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w krajach UE. W drugiej części porównano strukturę poszczególnych rozmiarów przedsiębiorstw w sektorze prywatnym w poszczególnych krajach.

The 20 million of enterprises are the driving force behind economic prosperity in Western Europe. They also provide employment to over 120 million people, contributing to social well-being as well. The vast majority of these enterprises are SMEs. As these enterprises have their own specific problems, it is worthwhile to investigate further into the size and structure of the SME - sector of the economy. This is also important from a policy point of view, as SMEs are generally regarded as the key to further economic development. (original abstract)
