Abstrakty

We współczesnym świecie, coraz bardziej połączonym więzami gospodarczymi, politycznymi i społecznymi, dialog staje się bardzo ważnym sposobem komunikowania się z innymi. W artykule przedstawiono dialog jako ważny element życia społecznego. Następnie omówiono nowe uwarunkowania rozwoju dialogu międzykulturowego w Polsce okresu transformacji.

The increasing differentiation of culture, religion and world views in the modern age may be perceived as an asset, a social resource that fosters development through the utilization of diverse experience and perspectives. Yet, this "asset" may be a source of conflict and social problems. On the one hand, scientific and technological development, the ability to move rapidly from one place to another, and the markedly increased potential to send and receive Information make us all citizens of the "global village", in which an infinite number of potential contacts and interactions exist, and where geographical distance loses its significance. Yet does this "accessibility" and "shrinking" of the world also mean "accessibility" in the cultural and social sense? Do any hard-and-fast rules or "cultural minimum" exist in reference to which we can reach global consensus? In this sense, dialogue is one of the most important problems of our time. Yet, the history of the world provides us with spectacular evidence that a clash of cultures is more common than dialogue. Cultural dialogue is not only an international - and for many, an abstract - task. The ability to initiate and maintain a dialogue is already decisive and will increasingly determine the chances of states, nations, regions, cities, corporations, firms and individuals to assume a position in world "rankings" that is in line with aspirations and to survive in an increasingly competitive world. In this article, the author presents the issue of education for dialogue, defines "competencies for dialogue", as well as the factors important for the development of attitudes and opinions, including openness, tolerance and joint participation. Finally, the author presents three levels of "cultural maturity", encompassing competencies for dialogue as well. (original abstract)
