Przedstawione zostały wyniki badań przeprowadzone w 2001 roku w ponad 1110 głównie małych polskich przedsiębiorstw, których celem było poznanie, w jaki sposób różne typy kosztów transakcyjnych rozwinęły się podczas pierwszych dziesięciu lat transformacji gospodarki.

This article presents the results of a survey carried out in 2001 among 1,116, mainly small, Polish companies. The survey was aimed at researching the development of certain transaction costs during the 1990s. The results suggest that transaction costs connected with banking and infrastructure decreased, while transaction costs connected with professionalism of tax officers, tax law, the speed of customs clearance, late payment, obtaining damage payments from insurance companies, theft and corruption increased. The increase in transaction costs may be explained by, among other things, the inability of institutions and institutional governance (e.g. judiciary) to adapt to the increasing amount of transactions as well as a lack of human capital, corruption and incompetence in public administration. It is argued that further institutional change is required to lower transaction costs and stimulate economic activity. (original abstract)
