Tematem artykułu były wydatki majątkowe jednostek samorządu terytorialnego w latach 1999-2002 w układzie regionalnym.

Self-governments are important investors on the market and through that they are also important decision makers in the local development policy. Each year, they are managing budgets which are worth more than a half of budgetary incomes of the state. However, investment policy realized by municipalities does not support the spatial cohesion of the country. On the regional level one can observe that the biggest investments are realized in well developed regions while the smallest occur in lagging regions. These growing disproportions in investment expenditures of self-governments per capita lead to fixation of interregional differentiation of development. In the long period of time it can bring about significant disparities on the level of regional development of the country. This article is an analysis of investment policy of regional self - governments in years 1999-2000. It shows the regional distance, which occurs as an effect of four years investment policy of self-governments. (original abstract)
