Abstrakty
There is significant spatial diversification of attitudes of Poles towards the European Union. The greatest support is observed in better developed regions which have high level of enterprise, among others in Lower Silesian, Mazovian, Upper Silesian, Great Poland and West Pomeranian regions. Because of its civilisation advantage the urban population supports the European Union to a larger extent than the rural one. As regards the urban population the biggest support towards the European Union is among inhabitants of big cities and also of little towns (up to 20 thousand) who see in the Union a chance to find a job and improve their living conditions. A clear relationship between the support for the Union and perceiving of chances and threats connected with the integration process is visible. Inhabitants of big and average-sized cities have high hopes of the European Union first of all of the development of economy, the use of the newest achievements of technology and the growth of environmental protection. In little towns and in villages the integration with the Union is mainly perceived through the situation on the labour market. Moreover, inhabitants of villages have hopes of the modernization of agriculture in Poland. (original abstract)
