Abstrakty

W artykule omówiono zróżnicowania infrastruktury społecznej w krajach Unii Europejskiej w 2000 roku. Przedstawiono także kierunki zmian w sferze edukacji, ochrony zdrowia i kultury w powiązaniu z kilkoma różnymi modelami, a mianowicie: rynkowym, partycypacyjnym i deregulacji sektora publicznego.

One of the most important and objective criteria which determine the position of a country on the international arena is the condition of the social infrastructure, defined as installations and institutions providing services in the following spheres: education, culture dissemination, health protection, social welfare, physical education, tourism and recreation. The international comparisons concerning the social infrastructure are impeded by the lack of comparable data, the diversity of the structural conditions and the different productivity of each individual sector. This article compares the social infrastructure in the European countries on the basis of the accessibility of the social services. For reasons of the availability of the statistic information the analysis presents data of the year 2000 and embraces only the members of the European Union at the time compared with Poland. In the field of the social infrastructure the nineties have resulted in all countries of the EU as well as in Poland in many important transformations increasing the differences between individual countries. Notable are: 1) the increase of the number of secondary schools students per every 1000 inhabitant, 2) the increase of the number of college students per every 10 thousand inhabitants, 3) the remarkable increase of the doctor number indicator per every 10 thousand inhabitants, 4) the remarkable decrease of new born children mortality in all considered countries, 5) the decrease of the number of hospital beds per every 10 thousand inhabitants in the majority of the considered countries.
