Artykuł poświęcono zagadnieniom związanym z inicjatywą Global Compact (Globalnego Porozumienia) podjętą przez sekretarza generalnego ONZ Kofi Annana. Przebadano wkład polskich i niemieckich firm w Globalne Porozumienie, strukturę krajowych sieci powiązań oraz rodzaj zaadoptowanej działalności. (A.Ł.)

In order to reduce the globalization's risks Kofi Annan formulated a Global Compact between business and society based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization's Declaration on fundamental principles and rights at work, and the Rio Declaration of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992. Today more than 700 companies are enlisted to the Compact. The article explores the Polish and German commitment to the Global Compact, the structure of the national networks and the kind of activities adapted. It concludes that multinational companies foster the most advanced activities and are able to internalize the Global Compact Principles into their structures. Thus, they dominate the German and Polish national networks alike with the result that some of the most committed actors in the Polish network are foreign companies. German small and middle enterprises hesitate to participate at the Global Compact, while their Polish counterparts are integrated into their national Global Compact network. In order to model the globalization process in terms of the Global Compact, the article recommends that companies should internalize the Global Compact principles rather than pursue external activities that have no long term impact.
