The main objective of the article was to describe situation on a dairy market in enlarged European Union with particular accordance to the new Member States. In the article there are presented the production results (1999-2002) standing for the starting position of the new EU countries in comparison with the old fifteen members. The analysed data prove, that in comparison to the new EU members, Poland characterise the biggest milk production potential and dynamic in milk production and processing. Poland is also the most important exporter of dairy products to European Union among 10 new EU Member States. In 2002 export of butter, cheese, milk powder and yogurts took appropriately 29,1%, 36,6%, 40,7%, 9,7% in the export structure of all the analysed 10 middle-east European countries.
