Composition price relationships on the hair shampoo market

Tematem pracy jest analiza relacji pomiędzy składem i ceną rynkowych szamponów znajdujących się w sprzedaży na przełomie lat 2004/2005. Poddano jej 119 produktów należących do szerokiego zakresu kategorii cenowych od najtańszych wyrobów supermarketowych do drogich produktów selektywnych. W badaniach uwzględniono pięć grup składników: substancje powierzchniowo czynne, hydrofilowe środki bezpośrednio nawilżające, składniki o działaniu renatłuszczającym, silikony i pochodne czwartorzędowych soli amoniowych (quaty). The aim of the work was composition vs. price analysis of shampoos placed in the market in 2004/2005 season. 119 products of wide range of price categories (from the cheapest supermarket goods to expensive, selective ones) were analyzed. During studies 5 groups of ingredients were taken into account: surfactants, hydrophilic moisturizers, refatting agents, silicones and quaternary ammonium salts (quats). It was established that the products of lowest price (2,00 to 4,99 PLN per 200ml) are based on very simple, sometimes very old formulations and the types of ingredients do not always follow the economy. The group of cheap products do not differ significantly from middle-price products (5,00—12,00 PLN) if the type of ingredients is considered. The shampoos classified as the highest-price products (45,00—90,00 PLN per 200ml) have much poor compositions than those belonged to the middle group and suite small number of modern technological solutions are applied in this case. It proves that in this segment the strategy of high prices based on trademark is used.(original abstract)
