Abstrakty

Celem niniejszego opracowania jest spojrzenie na problem imigrantów w Europie z nieco innej perspektywy, a mianowicie w aspekcie ich asymilacji i integracji, szczególnie w odniesieniu do muzułmanów europejskich. Niniejszy artykuł składa się z dwóch części. W pierwszej autor wyjaśnia, jak doszło do masowej imigracji do Europy Zachodniej po II wojnie światowej i skąd wzięły się problemy z asymilacją imigrantów muzułmańskich. Następnie dokonuje analizy polityki asymilacyjnej państw członkowskich UE pod kątem jej użyteczności i skuteczności. Podjęta zostaje też próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, jaki model polityki asymilacyjnej jest dla Europy najkorzystniejszy.

Immigration is not a new phenomenon for European countries; most attention, however, is currently paid to problems of its regulation, both in its domestic and international aspects. The aim of this article is to view the problem of immigrants in Europe from a slightly different perspective - i.e., with respect to assimilation and integration - in particular in reference to European Muslims. The article comprises two parts. In the first part, the author reviews how the mass immigration to Western Europe after World War II came about and discusses the origins of the problems of assimilation of Muslim immigrants. Next, he analyses the assimilation policies of EU Member States with respect to their utility and effectiveness. The author also attempts to respond to the question as to which model of assimilation policy is the most advantageous for Europe. (original abstract)
